Paris Saint-Germain secured their second consecutive UEFA Champions League title on May 30, 2026, defeating Arsenal 4-3 in a penalty shootout at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, Hungary.

The match ended 1-1 after regular time and extra time, with Kai Havertz scoring for Arsenal in the sixth minute before Ousmane Dembele equalized from the penalty spot in the 65th minute. Neither team found the net during the additional 30 minutes, setting the stage for a dramatic shootout.

In the shootout, Arsenal’s Eberechi Eze missed his attempt, while David Raya saved Nuno Mendes’ kick for PSG. Gabriel’s final penalty struck the crossbar and flew over the bar, sealing PSG’s victory.

The win marked several historic achievements. PSG became the first French club to win back-to-back Champions League titles and the first team since Real Madrid in 2018 to retain the trophy. The match was also notable as the fourth European Cup final to feature clubs from two different capital cities, following previous such matchups in the competition’s history.

Havertz became only the third player in history to score in Champions League finals for two different clubs, having also found the net for Chelsea in their 2021 victory against Manchester City.

PSG midfielder Vitinha was named UEFA’s Player of the Match for his performance throughout the final. Arsenal’s campaign in the tournament came at the end of a season in which they also competed for the English Premier League title.

The victory completes a remarkable season for PSG, who dominated both domestic and European competitions. Arsenal’s defeat marks another near-miss in their pursuit of a first Champions League trophy.
